The Bushman World Ukulele Video Contest
The first Bushman World Ukulele Video Contest was held in late 2007. Ukulele players were invited to post videos of themselves playing ukulele and singing (singing wasn’t mandatory), and email us the link to their videos. We then selected the most entertaining videos by popular vote, and the winners were given free ukuleles and other prizes. Contestants could submit videos from October 1st thru December 31st and we announced the winner in January. It was a hit! Some now famous musicians got their start from the exposure they got from the contest. Life-long friendships were formed, future collaborations were born, and some contestants got hired to perform at festivals and other venues as a result of their participation in the contest. All the fun and success of the first contest meant we had to hold it again, for years to come. Here are some popular favorites from each year:
